Yep, that’s right, there are two genies in the original story. Galland was told these stories in Paris by a Syrian storyteller named Hanna Diab. In fact, the story was not part of the original Arabic manuscript of Thousand and One Nights. It was Galland’s collection that first popularised the Aladdin tale.
